Default Outlook On Mini 910 - 12-30-2011, 12:24 PM

I have a new to me Mini 910 running XP. I cannot find Outlook. I do have Outlook Express but would rather have Outlook. Can I get Outlook without the rest of Microsoft Office? I have an Office Disc, can I put Outlook on a flash drive and transfer it to the Mini?

You would need to install Office (assuming you have a legal license to do so), and select a custom install where the only component you pick is Outlook. That should work. I believe Microsoft does also sell Outlook independently (not sure), but you can't simply copy part of the Office CD to get it.

Thanks holmes4 I have been thinking about it and I guess I need to change my mind set of this net book. I am not used to using a device with such a small HD.

yeah thats the problem with those Mini 9's and the SSD's you are very restricted, I found that even with the 1010 and the stock 160gb was too small for me, got me a 750gb in there now and all is good (I could just about run the IRS or DMV on this thing...lol), I might just upgrade to a 7200rpm instead of the 5400rpm for a little more speed..

It depends on what you are willing to pay. I have a 64GB SSD in mine and never came close to filling it.

Good for you. It certainly changed my mind on what I really need to keep, backup/storage solutions, & most of all, operating systems. Enjoy the journey.

My MINI 910 has an 8 GB drive and it is telling me it is full. I am running XP and have nothing on the machine but it is full.
Should I get a new and larger HD? If so where is a good inexpensive place to buy one?
Try a new trimmer OS? If so which one. I own a Mac Book and have wanted a Hackintosh for a while so maybe.. I even own a 16 GB flash drive stick.
How much space does OSX take?
One the other hand if I could browse email and play the occasional MP3 on Ubuntu I would not be adverse to that.
Will the Intel 5100 Wifi card work with OSX and Ubuntu?

If you want a larger SSD get one from MDD, http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/my-d...ate-drive.html. Note that the prices have dropped & a 16 GB is now only $50.

If you want to run Ubuntu or just try it out with installing it is free, look here; Download | Ubuntu

I just installed an Intell 5100 Wifi adapter and don't have disc space to install the drivers.
