I personally prefer using CCleaner on my computers.

in vista ccleaner cannot clean up the windows update files. that is why i posted this link. those update backup files take up a ton of space over time, if your computer is working fine after the updates are installed then there is no need for them, but for some reason windows just leaves them on the computer. ccleaner is ok at doing its job, its reg cleaner kinda sucks though.

Thanks for the hint! +1 to reputation

Dell Inspiron Mini 12, 1.6 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, 3 cell battery, MS Windows Vista.
Want to install internal WWAN modem, replace HDD with SSD or CompactFlash.
P.S. English it is not my native language, so, please, excuse me for its poor quality.

I use CCleaner but would like to get rid of update backup files - is it the free version or Pro of Wisecleaner that can do this?

yep. CCleaner works great in Vista except for lacking the ability to clear the backup files. all i used was the free version of wisecleaner to remove these. i used ccleaner for everything else
