My problem came in in that I did in stall the Jmicron divers and the two "base system device" items remained in my manager. I can only assume the install somehow botched or otherwise went wrong because when I blitzed and reinstalled Vista, following the same install procedure I undertook before, those two "base system device" items no longer appeared in the manager.

Do you remember what the 2 drivers were?
Or where I can find them?

I have updated to Vista and cant figure out if this is related to why I cant get webcam to get recognized.

the touchpad and the jmicron drivers usually fix it. what webcam driver are you currently using?
