Default Windows 10 on the Mini 1012 - 09-11-2015, 09:25 AM

I just installed Windows 10 32 bit on my Mini 1012. Everything seemed to work ok except for the Bluetooth. After some searches I got that going as well. Windows 10 doesn't recognize the Bluetooth drivers from Windows 7.

The Broadcom drivers wouldn't work. The installation would just hang.

I found some Lenovo Bluetooth drivers from the Lenovo web site. I used those and it installed generic Bluetooth drivers in the device manager with a yellow mark against the driver to indicate they weren't installed correctly.

I then re-ran the Broadcom driver suite and it installed them correctly. The Bluetooth works ok.

Interesting, because I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my 1012 and it had issues with the Bluetooth as well. And I recently installed Remix OS and it has the same issues.

I installed Win10 Enterprise on mine last night, had no issues with BT, but as there is no video driver, was was stuck at 1024x768. I ID'd the driver version from wikipedia, then headed over to intel.com and located the 32 Win 7 GMA500 driver from Intel, installed and all is good.

It doesn't let me post links, so sorry this is cryptic, but...https: //downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19155/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-7-32-zip-?product=80939

There's life in the old girl yet...Of course, the battery is dead and it's tethered to power, but it's still kicking.

Just got the above battery today for under 20 bucks. Works like a charm. Gives me 6 hours of user time.

mine costed about double that, but then i also have double the power it has, so i can use it nearly 10-12 hours in idle modus, around 8 when watching movies

I am now running Windows 10 32-bit (upgraded from a fresh install of Win 7 starter). I used all the updated Dell drivers (in compatibility mode with Windows 7), and they ALL worked fine. Even the Broadcom Crystal HD driver works, with the taskbar indicator as well. The enable/disable Bluetooth/WLAN taskbar icon works as well.

I'll check out that link for the Intel GMA drivers and see if its worth updating mine. Thanks!

FYI: Disabling Windows Defender makes Win 10 run significantly faster on my Mini 1012. I am still in the process of figuring out how to permanently disable it, because it will always automatically turn back on after a while.

I'd wonder just how "new" a new battery would be. It seems likely that it would have been sitting on a shelf for years....

the battery i brought (3rd party)
is a 8cell (instead of the normal 4-6 cell)

and has a runtime of 10 hours on lowest brightness watching movies.
9 hours on full brighness. (using MHCP)

most original chargers are worse than the 3rd party.

the battery i brought also came with a store warantly of 5 YEARS

(3rd party nowdays are build to order/ brought on order, so they are better than the already fabricated factory ones of years ago)
