Default MINI9 / Bios A06 - anyone tried it yet? - 04-18-2010, 07:39 PM

Hi guys - are there any experiences yet with the current A06 BIOS for the Mini 9? I noticed thart it comes as a windows updater only, but I managed to extract the ROM-File from the archive...

All previous versions came with a bundled dos flasher so I am not quite sure, which software to use when attempting an upgrade on dos.

In the release note it says:

[SYSTEM BIOS]:
Fixed:
1.Implement SMBIOS.
2.Improved the stability of Media Card Reader

Link to dell's website: Drivers and Downloads

Cheers, cizko

Did you use the windows installer or do you happen to have a hint regarding a usable DOS-based flashing tool for the .ROM-file?

btw: has any of you A06-people out there experienced problems with connections from the internal 5530 wwan module? I found that A04 works fine with 5530 wwan but A05 and A06 seemed to bring up problems in terms of device recognition when resuming from sleep...

anyone?

cheers, cizko

These where the ONLY instructions that worked succesfuly for me to flash BIOS on a MacOS10.6.1 Mini9(could not use the R254112.exe file from inside MacOS), but don't forget to copy the extracted files in the USB flash WITHOUT being in a seperate folder.
I used BIOS Update per bootable USB-Stick (extract the .zip below in a folder in C:\DriveKey and run it from there) to prepare the USB and typed 910A06.BAT after rebooted from it.
