Hi there,

I'm having the same problem. Only had my mini for a couple of days now, and I upgraded to the A05 BIOS (so I'm not too certain if it charged while not-running). I left it on charge last night, whilst it was in standby mode, and it didn't charge.

Not sure if the OS manages the charge in standby mode so I'll wait until tonight and charge it whilst fully off.

I'm running Ubuntu on mine.

(and a 'hello' to the forum )

Jonathon

Default It appears to be... Fixed! - 06-15-2009, 04:06 PM

Well, the phone techs did a great job but the repair shop botched it the first two tries. Finally on the THIRD time I sent it in to them for this same problem, they replaced the motherboard and all appears to be well so far. I know they replaced it.. because it's back to A04 when I had updated the previous to A05 to see if that would fix it at all.

The battery and ac adapter I got to test with it, of course, showed the same problems before its second trip in ... during which time they... did nothing to the laptop, marked 'ac adaptor' on the 'corrective action taken', and shipped it back. Oddly enough, it wasn't shipped to them with an ac adapter AND it wasn't shipped back with one.

All together, I can guarantee the issue wasn't OS related as I reproduced it under...
Ubuntu
Gentoo
FreeBSD
Windows Vista (Ghost 11.5 WinPE)
and... the GRUB bootloader

First things to make sure of when checking up on it all, grab the A05 bios (not officially released last I saw, but even the phone techs pointed me to try it, there's a bootable usbkey image pre-built that makes updating to it a breeze). This specific problem won't likely be fixed, but 90% of the other battery/power related issues likely will.

A05 fixed the battery not reporting power draw. Still having this issue though, but I don't wanna lose my mini for long enough to send it in. Guess I'll just keep dealing with it.

Dunhamzzz, I have a similar problem with my Mini 9. It will charge up to 100%, but after it reaches a fully charged state, it begins to run off the battery, even if it's still plugged in. The only way to make it start charging again is to shut down, unplug the AC adapter from the Mini, plug the AC adapter back in while the Mini is off, then power then Mini back on. It's very strange, and I haven't found any fix for it yet.

FYI, I'm running OSX 10.5.7 and using BIOS A05.

Yup we are suffering the same thing, i am using winxp so and a05 so it must be that.

I'm going to make a post about it on the homepage to get this more coverage.

I don't think it's the A05 BIOS, as I'm running Windows XP and had A04 and it was happening then (a few days ago). Installed A05 last night, and had it on charge all night, and absolutely no difference. The battery light still doesn't come on, and the laptop shuts down as soon as the AC adaptor is pulled out. Same as before.

Damn!!

Default Quit charging out of nowhere - 06-25-2009, 11:29 PM

Anyone had this happen before? I was using my Mini 9 last night with absolutely no problems. Today it decides out of nowhere it doesn't want to charge anymore.

Power adapter?
