Default Dell 11z BIOS Question - 09-08-2011, 01:47 AM

Dell 11z 1110 has version A06 Bios. Should it have A04?

How can it be changed back down?

Is there a problem you're having with A06? If Dell provides a DOS installer for the older BIOS you can usually use that, but I would not recommend changing if what you have works.

Batterys will not charge. Power supply OK as it operates the computer W/O battery charged. Tried different new battery and same thing.

Suspect A06 BIOS.

Hi,

Did you solve this issue regarding the battery? I am facing the same issue and also trying to downgrade Bios from A06 to A04. I have no clue about the problem with the battery.

Hi oisilva,

This issue may occur if there if the battery is unable to recognize the AC adapter. Please follow the steps below to check in the BIOS if the AC adapter is getting recognized.
1.Restart the system and tap F2 key on the Dell logo.
2.On the system setup screen under the Main tab, look for AC adapter type, the wattage should be listed beside it.
3.If this is not listed, you can try loading the BIOS to defaults and check again.
4.Press F9 key to load defaults and press F10 to save and exit.
5.Once this is done, please check whether the AC adapter type is listed.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please share the following information so that I can help you better.

1. Can you use the system without the battery?
2. Is there any charge on the battery?
3. Have you tried using a different adapter or battery to check?
4. What Operating system are you using?
5. Are you getting a message "plugged in not charging" when you hover the mouse over the battery icon?

Downgrading the BIOS is not recommended and may cause other issues.

Please reply with the information so that I can help you better.

Thanks and regards
Abhishek B

Hi Dell_Abhishek_B,

I tried reseting Bios as you described and battery is not identified, as shows the indication on the start up screen. Pressing F1 to continue, Windows Home Basic 7 64 loads. There is the indication of "plugged in not charging". Opening Dell Battery Monitor it shows the message the babtery can not supply power to the computer and needs to be replaced.

Today I went to a computer parts' store and tested a new charged battery and another AC charger. No change on the described status.

Computer does not run on battery, just with the AC charged plugged. It rans also just with the AC adapter.

Tonight I tried to downgrade The BIOS to A04 but WinPlash64 fails due to low battery. By the way, my battery ran out of power.

Some people suggestedrto replace the mainboard, but I read some posts over the internet with other people complaining it didnt solve the issue.

I guess my last hope is to be able to downgrade the Bios.
