Question External Speaker - 04-22-2011, 05:22 PM

Geez....I'm sorry to be back with another question but I don't want to sabotage myself by not knowing if what I want to do is going to help or hurt.

I want to add an external speaker. I have a hard time understanding the dialog in movies or tv shows I try to watch directly on the Mini.

I don't want the clip on type as I would still have to have it right by me. I would like one I could plug in via usb or headphone jack and put beside me. No headphones.

But I just realized....I need to know what size or else I will end up with a 'cute' speaker no better/clearer/louder. I just want one, not a set up.

There are quite a number of powered speakers that would work well. These tend to be rechargeable by USB but don't get their audio from USB. I have this one, but it is no longer made. I've seen others that are similar.

Amazon.com: iHome iHM60 Rechargeable Mini Speakers for iPod (Gun Metal Gray): Electronics is a current version of what I have.

I have a set of Dell AX210 speakers that I sometimes use with my devices. They plugin to USB for power and the headphone jack for audio. They don't offer great sound, but they're still a significant improvement over most netbook and small laptop speakers.

Hmmm....I might not need a external speaker after all.
Could this be right?
I uninstalled WMP and installed VLC and I swear it is louder.
