Problem is, we aren't quite sure what file it is. I wish I hadn't updated all my machines to 10.5.8, it's gonna make finding the changed file a bit harder. Probably gonna take a look at the delta in Pacifist and see what power related was changed.

Thanks for bringing this app to my attention. I don't even mind the "Not Charging" issue now that I've got this in the status bar instead.

Yup, it looks like SlimBatteryMonitor is the way to go for the time being. Interesting how it claims to use the same data that OS X provides, yet it actually works. Hopefully there will be a real solution soon. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. Glad I added something back after all the leeching I've done off these forums. I too just removed the battery status and replaced it with SlimBatteryMonitor. I actually like the color coding a bit more anyway.

Ya, I like the new bar, but is the mini losing any battery efficiency by always thinking that it's plugged in but simply not charging, as apposed to knowing it is running on battery.

From what I can tell, the mini doesn't think it's not charging; just the applet reports it as such. Once plugged in, SmartBatteryMonitor reports proper times for both drainage and charging ETAs, so the system is well aware of what the battery is doing.
