Unhappy Does the Inte 5300 wireless have any problems in Mini 9? - 05-05-2009, 03:49 PM

I picked up the Intel 4695AGN and found it is compatiable but will never come out of standby without a reboot. So..I am looking in to picking up the Intel 5300 Draft N, but I wanted to know if there were any problems with the card befor I drop 30-40$ more dollars. There were some reports of heat issues with the MAc N card, but the intel 4695 doesn't get any hotter than the broadcom g card that was previously in there. So if you know anything please post here so we can have a good discussion. Also barely used Intel 4695 AGN if you want to trade if for anything. Just PM me.

Works great in my mini, excellent range and signal.

I also have the 5300 and it works great. Really wants a third antenna added, though.

what benefits does the 3rd antenna add? It connects to my Dlink N Router @ 300mbps and transfers very quickly. Does the 3rd antenna increase sensitivity or range?

Third antenna would provide additional antenna diversity but it is not necessary since 2x2 antenna config works fine and connects at 802.11 draft-N speeds!

thats what I thought and had experienced with my 2 antenna 5300 card. If at some point I get a 3 antenna router, ill get the 3rd antenna..

I found my N connectivity flaky until I added the third antenna, even though my router has only two. Your mileage may vary.
