Default Non Dell Question re: IBM thinkpad T60 - 03-14-2010, 05:40 PM

So I tried to install Osx 10.6.1 to my Mom's IBM thinkpad T60. Everything works except for the wifi. Can anyone take sometime to entertain my problem and advise me an answer please. Thanks in advance

What kind of wifi module does it have? OS X only supports a limited number of wifi cards/modules--probably only Broadcom ones because that is what real Airport/Airport Extreme modules are... You may have to install a compatible wifi module in the thinkpad.

Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.2 | Windows 7 Professional | Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 | 1GB RAM | 160GB HDD | BIOS A05 | USB Legacy: OFF | USB Wake: OFF | BT: Enabled (self-installed BCM2046) | NBI 0.8.3 final

Depends on what kind of card slot the Thinkpad has (miniPCI or miniPCIe) but here are some options:

802.11a/b/g - BCM4312 chipset (e.g. Dell 1397)
802.11a/b/g/n BCM4322 chipset (e.g. Dell 1510)

Might look at this thread for more information about these and other BCM43xx cards that Apple includes in real Macs as rebranded Airport/Airport Extreme cards.

I heard IBM's can't be replace with non IBM hardwares. Is this true?

I seem to recall reading that but have no experience with that issue. Sorry.

I know HP's are like that. I have Snow Leopard running on my HP 2530p but cannot change wireless cards due to a bios 104 error. I have a Apple wifi card from my apple tv but cannot get it work.
