Hi everyone. I won a Dell Mini 9 at a Christmas party for work. We I got it home and plugged it in, I booted it up. Well, it is password protected. I don't know the password. No one at work knows the password. I talked to Dell about it and they said because I am not the registered owner of the Mini, they can't help. Is there anything I can do?

I doubt it. Imagine someone stole your Dell Mini 9, and then called Dell to ask them for details to unlock it... would you want them to help the thug who stole it?

I guess I'll have to buy a new motherboard. Is there a part number for the motherboard?

Have you verified that it is the BIOS not SSD that is password protected.

To confirm, remove the SSD then reboot to see if you are still prompted for password.

AFAIK: Don't think there is anyway of flushing that password off the SSD. ops:

If I purchase a new SSD will that take care of the problem? I was planning on doing that anyway. If it works then hey.

Yes, you can't even password protect the replacement SSD's, so your problem will be gone when you get a new SSD.
