you can not do it, you can do a clean install of Windows 8, but a factory restore is just what it says, FACTORY restore (which means what it left Dell with), your system didnt come with Windows 8 so how could you possibly do a factory restore to Windows 8, and if you have ever reformatted your drive then the original FACTORY partition was probably deleted also which was probably Windows XP on that system at that time.....

BTW: if it isnt worn off...you can go to the Dell site and enter your service tag# (located on the sticker on the bottom of your machine) and it will give you the EXACT configuration of what was shipped on that machine...I was smart when I got mine, I covered the sticker with a large piece of clear tape....after over 3yrs I can read everything perfectly

And so the saga continues. I am having so many issues with the upgrade, that I have decided to install an OEM version (Full). My question is:
If I cannot do a factory restore, will the install disk give me an option to format and install over the current upgrade?

Thanks!

Mark

yes it should give you the option to delete the current partition, reformat and install

You can reset Windows 8 to it's default new installation state. Start by going into PC Settings (right charm menu, Settings then "Change PC Settings"), click on General, scroll down to "Remove everything and re-install Windows" and click "Get started".

As Rich says, no Dell Mini ever came from Dell with Windows 8, so there can't be any factory restore.
