No, you either need to be in the beta program or acquire later builds over the Internet from "other" sources.

Windows Update will not get you later builds. If you are getting 7000 from MSDN or TechNet, then none of the later builds are available to you yet. If you really were in the beta program, you'd already have the newer build.

My advice at this point is to wait a few weeks as, supposedly, a Release Candidate build would be available to MSDN subscribers. No guarantees. Besides, I'm finding 7000 to be better behaved on my Mini than 7057.

Otherwise, you need to find a torrent.

Being in *the* beta program and signing up to download and try build 7000 are two different things.

Right - the "customer preview" which closed a few weeks ago is not the beta program.

I have been running windows 7 64bit on my dell M6400 for quite a while - not in the beta program so using 7000, which has been so far very stable only 2 BSOD due to my video card driver which I have now changed and it seems OK.

Tried the 32 bit version on my mini when I first got is but thought it ran slower than XP - admit I only had it on for a few days as a giggle as I did not think it would work and it did seem OK.

As far as Vista is concerned - tis crap!!!!! - sorry but I have Ultimate and run this on 0 computers - I admit the 64 bit version is better than XP64 but that is it. Vista gives no positives over XP other than a pretty interface, if I was forced to use Vista I would swap to Linux which I have already tested a few times and while I find it runs well does not support games and is just to darn hard to use day to day - OK last comment unfair - maybe it's me who needs to spend longer understanding how Linux works.
