Hey I'm new to this forum. I've had my Dell Mini 1012 for a couple of years. Its amazing that I never came to find this community. It seems though that I'm a bit late to the party.

i took over a mini 910 for 0$ from a friend.
it runs like a charm with win10 32bit

most topic that are relavent are still here.
so modding tuturials are for the picking

it might be a good idea then to merge all topics of 4 years ago that have no reply's

this way its easyer to navigate to the more relavant topics. by merging all "useless" topics

dell mini 910
supertalent dual wide ssd 128GB
2GB ddr2 400mhz ram
Realtek RTL8188SU

still putzing around with my 1012.
Have the higher res screen and an ssd installed.
Running oem XP after a try with Ubuntu. I did not like Ubuntu.
Just ordered w7 32bit by mistake. I wanted 64, so I decided to keep it and will be installing the 32 on the 1012.

My biggest beef on the 1012 is the touchpad, but there's no upgrade for that. Other than a mouse.

Still a cute little PC for as old as it is.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 2mb RAM
Dell Inspiron E1505 - died a noble death
Dell Inspiron 17R - I hammered the kb with fist, killed it.
Motorola Droid X2 - gave to niece who gave it to her 3 year old. crap.
lotsa new stuff

I found that Windows 10 runs amazing on my Mini 1012, as long as you disable Windows Defender.

As for the touch pad, there are 2 options

1) http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...ally-rock.html

2) If you look closely, the entire palm rest on the Mini 1018, including the bolt holes, looks identical to the 1012. So I figure you could easily just replace the whole part and it should work. The touchpad on the 1018 has separate buttons, which look like they would work a lot better.

Examples:
1012 - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191167100964
1018 - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/321621391646

Inspiron Mini 1012 ǁ Win 10 x64 ǁ Intel Atom N450 1.66Ghz ǁ 2GB RAM ǁ 120GB SSD ǁ 1366x768 + Broadcom Crystal HD ǁ Intel 3160HMW 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 1x1 + Bluetooth 4.0 ǁ Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth 2.1 ǁ 2x32GB MR15 Internal dual-MicroSD mPCIe
