? how does TRIM install into the 16 Gb HDD SSD in my Dell 9"?

It's unlikely you have an SSD that supports TRIM - very few of them for the Mini 9 did, and none of the factory SSDs did. Also, you would have to put the disk controller into AHCI mode and the Mini 9 doesn't support that.

Hi All
Ref the SSD HDD whats better to extend SSD life shutdown after use or just close the lid & hope it fires up when the lid is opened = I changed the dead SSD HDD after say 18 months of lid closing shut down or ??

Neither of those actions will have any effect on the SSD one way or another. With SSDs, the primary issues are heat and write cycles, though the latter is pretty much a non-issue with modern SSDs.
