Thanks they had a hardtime getting the HB95 shipped out so I asked them to swap me out to the 1510 and they said no problem. Be nice to get some better throughput at home.

Has anyone else done this upgrade, I'd be interested to hear of their experiences.

Followup-I talked with Dell's tech support regarding upgrading my LCD display to the new Hi Res LED screen and was told there are physical differences between the hinges for units shipped with the newer display VS a mini 1012 with a 1024X600 display. Therefor this upgrade is not possible for a standard mini 1012, even if the Intel NM10 graphic card is compatible.

Anyone else have any more information on this topic?

miniuser, I know from doing it myself that there are no difference. Its just the actual lcd panel and it screws into the existing hinge. I had a standard mini 1012 with the 1024x600 and upgraded it to the 1366x768 as has others with no problems. My boss also did it after I told him about my success and he had no issues either. Again only tricky part is removing the bezel, cause it takes quiet a bit of force to get it loose.

Thanks asindragon, I was on the phone for an hour with those folks in tech support, even asked to speak to the next higher up. The shift supervisor is the one who claimed there were physical differences in the hinges and thickness in the LCDs. I felt like I was getting the royal runaround but I persisted until the "hinge" difference was pointed out. Prior to that point they did everything in the world to discourage me. And this after I pointed out I would assume all risk (loss of warranty etc) and that I had more than adequate experience in doing something of this nature. Even after this shoddy experience I'd like to make this mod. I tried ordering the higher res LCD using the on-line parts ordering and used the "RKDY3" part number with out success. Any suggestions on who to speak to or some other avenue other than those obstructionist in tech support? Thanks -

I would push the issue. I complained about dead pixels and wrong wifi card until I convinced them to send me the HD screen as a replacement for all my trouble. I posted the email to the manager I spoke with. Search my posts and try emailing the manager that help me out. I also carbon copied the CEO's of Dell on every email to the manager. I am sure they dont care. But the manager cant risk an assistant of a CEO calling about why they cant help a customer.

Thanks greenbean, I assume you have performed this upgrade also? Based upon my configuration, Bios version (A04) and Intel NM10 Express graphics, Dell "TS" said my system was compatible with the "RKDY3" LCD. Any othyere thoughts? If not it's time to "Rumble". Thanks Gents for all the assistance.

I didn't want to hassle with Dell so I ended up sourcing mine from an eBay vendor who stated that they get their panels directly from Dell. The panel is from LG, no resolution problems, and the cost was a little more then Dell @ $105.

Bewshy, thanks for the lead on getting a new LCD display. I may have to proceed using that route as I get conflicting input and suggestions from Dell Tech Support and Dell sales. TS confirms the upgrade is compatible based upon the technical specifications of a mini 1012. BTW, the Technicals' for each of Dells preconfigured mini's list all HW configurations with a few caveats (see Tech Specs tab). Bewshy what is the configuration of your mini netbook. Suggest you update your profile to show what you have. Do it once and the info is included with every post you make. Thanks for your good ideas.
