Default Dell 11z Upgrade Processor - 08-20-2010, 09:12 PM

Hey People,
i have got a dell 11z and it has got a celeron 743 processor. This processor was working fine a few months back and now it is dead slow. i actually saw the review of dell mini with su 4100 and got one with 743 processor by mistake; my bad. now i want to upgrade my processor either to su4100 or celeron 900; can i do that? is that possible any way. also i do not reside in us so i cant go to dell for help.

Well, they have the daughter boards on ebay now, but I can't seem to find out if they are teh Celeron 743 or if it's the SU4100. Here's the links:

Dell 11z 1.3Ghz MotherBoard C750T CPU Board 3TK57 - eBay (item 370382695830 end time Sep-14-10 15:21:43 PDT)

Dell Inspiron Mini 11z 1110 ATOM Memory Processor 3TK57 - eBay (item 230504402399 end time Aug-26-10 12:56:31 PDT)

If you're feeling froggy pick one up and let me know what's in it. You have to replace that whole "daughter board" to replace the CPU but @ ~$100, it would probably be worth it if it was the dual-core.

Just send the owner of the auction a message asking...but I'm assuming it's the dual-core because it says atom, and the celeron isn't an atom processor.

I did, he seemed to think they only came with the SU4100 and said that was what was on it. But I thought the SU4100 wasn't an Atom either, it's a Pentium if I'm not mistaken. Or is it just a re-branded Atom?

Turns out he said it looks like it's the single core celeron the "the best of his knowledge". I was hoping to get a dual-core upgrade myself but I maybe out of luck. If anyone has any insight to this, I would love some input.

I have both the dual core and the 1.3 celeron. I think they both perform well although I don't have statistics. Your initial post said the processor slowed down. That shouldn't happen. Are you sure there isn't some software that was loaded on the machine to slow it down?

Could one of you guys with the SU4100, please go to the Warranty Status page, here:

Dell System Information / Dell Warranty Extensions & Upgrades / Dell Warranty Status

..and hit "Original System Configuration", please?

I'd like to get the part number for your CPU/memory board, somewhere down the line you'll have possibly a line item mentioning Penryn or SU4100. The Celeron 743 version seems to be part 3TK57.

Armed with the part number it should be pretty easy to get and upgrade to dual-core.
