Default No power at WWAN mini pci-e slot Mini 10v - 12-30-2009, 02:51 AM

I want to add a mini pci-e connector for WWAN on my Mini 10v. As has been mentioned many times before there is a place on the board for the connector. I measured the voltage before I went ahead and put a connector on. I was unable to measure the normal 3.3v that should be present. Just to compare I measured the same pin location on the Wifi card slot and was able to read 3.3v.

It seems that there must be a jumper or a via that needs to be filled to get power to the socket. Anyone else have a similar experience or have any ideas. I guess I could bridge the 3.3v from another location, but it would be much easier if there was a jumper to close.

Thanks

Debra

That socket is wired for USB only. The WiFi (WLAN) slot is the only one that is really a MiniPCIe, electrically.

i understand that. I still can find no pin that has 3.3 or 5 volts present.

The socket should have the two data pins, ground, and 3.3v ( think it is 3.3v not 5v), plus the sim card connections

Any more on this? I'm looking at getting the internal TV tuner, or one I found from Ebay that looked nice. My model was purchased for me by my boyfriend, and came without the WWAN, nor the connector. I was looking at Memory Card Connectors 52P Mini Card Socket 3.9mm Height which was linked, and am trying to figure out if this would work out =/ Or if I need to figure out what sorta pciE cards use USB...

That, and I'm a little curious about where a SIM connector would go.

If you want a TV tuner, get one that plugs into an external USB port. I'm not sure what you had in mind for that memory card adapter - it would not help you with a tuner.

A SIM connector would attach to a cellular data (WWAN) card.
