Default Will this work ? - 12-19-2011, 03:32 PM

I have an old Inspiron 1520.
Behind the battery is a sim card slot, but no wwan in the compartment.
If i fitted the wwan card and attached the aerial wires that are there. Would this work on Orange UK network?

Is there a socket for a WWAN card? If there is, then assuming you buy a card compatible with Orange, it should work.

Thanks holmes4.
Yes there is a socket without wwan in, also the aerial wires are tucked into protective sleeve. Im guessing they are for wwan. They have same connectors as the WLAN ones.
Thanks again..

As you say the system has a pcie slot, sim card slot, and antennas, just installing the proper type WWAN card for Orange's network and installing necessary drivers should work fine.

If Orange uses GSM type system, make sure there is actually a sim card holder installed on the board. All systems have a slot, but not necessarily a card holder soldered to board. You can test by inserting sim card into slot. If it clicks in, then you're ok.
