Default mini 10 1.6ghz and 2gb ram part # - 08-31-2009, 07:35 PM

I can't find the thread that was talking about this before. Has anyone gotten the new one with 2 gb of ram? I was hoping to get a part number for the daughterboard and order it from dell depending on price.

thanks,
Rob

My company's Dell sales rep told me that the 1.6ghz/2GB daughter card is not yet available as a separate part, as demand is pretty high. She's promised to call me as soon as it is available, as I plan to upgrade. She said to give it a month or so...

Cheers

So I take it to mean that the older 1010's are upgradeable. Yes, No; Maybe. Somehow I think the price is going to be pretty high; but it might be worth it. I have gotten my 1010 to just about where I want it with software and driver updates. Going to have to take a long hard look at this if it indeed is going to be possible. fdalbor

Just a heads up the 1GB and 2GB cards physically are not the same size, the screw standoffs will not line up and will require modifcation to install it, but once installed it will work. I ordered a 2GB mini and I have a 1GB mini with all the fixins WAN, TV Tuner, etc and wanted to use that one, so I swapped the ram/processor cards, more of an annoyance because I had to cut the internal case a bit, but it does work.

I'm not upgrading my 1010, I'll buy a new one and also get the nice glossy HD screen.

what has to be modified to get the 2g memory module to work?

i thought it would be a direct fit?

i'm guessing you had to modify the ram card itself? if the stand off don't work, how could you change them?

any pics if you have them would be appreciated, thanks, appreciate your time, p

I want to do the reverse. I have the 2GB mini10 but would like to add the Hauppauge TV Tuner Mini-PCIe Card or internal GPS to it. Is that possible? If so, what type of modification am I looking at?

Thanx
