All up and running guys and im loving it! i cant believe how fast it is even with such a low spec.

im on 10.6.0 at the mo so i guess the next step is to try and update it but im reluctant because its working so well and i dont want to mess anything up.

hey mark. good to hear you got everything working.

were you able to put the OS on the SSD or still from external?
if you managed to get it to the SSD, you've got part of the update prep already done if you still have your external installation available. that way, if it goes awry you can clone it back from there instead of starting from scratch. I don't have too much insight into the upgrade process, except to say make sure you do research before jumping in. and disable automatic updates in Software Update. that way you won't run the risk of inadvertently running an update that mucks your system.

I do have one question. i prepped the keyboard layout a while back for another user. and i still see that it gets downloaded from time to time. no one's ever given me any feedback either way on it tho. so i was wondering if it did the trick.

cheers.

Hi mate, thanks for the message. Unfortunately I could get the keyboard fix to work, i follow the instructions but cant see it in the list of input methods?

Yes i've installed osx on to my ssd and it works fantastic! I'm going to make a backup image before i start trying updates.

I've installed 10.6.0 on both a 10 V as well as Mini 9 (8gb ssd) following the guide(s) in my signature, no problem.

Mini 10v/1GB RAM/160GB HD/ BIOS A06/SL 10.6.6
Mini 9 /2GB RAM/ 16GB SSD/BIOS A05/SL 10.6.6
OSX Installation via USB & Mac

Do you think upgrading to 2GB of RAM will make a noticable difference in performance? Also has anyone got any opinions on which SSD to upgrade to? I know the runcore one gets the thumbs up but its quite expensive.

Glad you got it working, I put 2gb into mine. Startup seemed a bit faster, and it handles a few open programs a bit better, noticeable, but not drastic. With a cheap price, Id definitely do it. Also with the SSDs you can get for a Dell Mini 9, you get what you pay for it seems.

Dell M4500 i7 940XM, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, Quadro FX1800M, 15.6" screen at 1080p. Win 7 Pro.

Black Dell Mini 9. 2GB G Skill RAM, 32GB Runcore, Dell 1510 "Airport Extreme", US Intl keyboard, 2.0 MP webcam, OS X 10.6.7,Bluetooth, sleep, ALC 268 fix and a proper Apple logo.
