I've gone ahead and used firewall off and disk utility to repair all permissions, but I'm still having issues.
Have you tried re-running NBI?

not yet...just rebooted...

ran NBI 8.4 RC1 and rebooted...still have sound

Mini 10v (Black) - BIOS A06 - Mac OS X 10.6.0 - 1GB RAM - 320GB HDD (7200 rpm) - NBM via USB - NBI (ending with 51) - Legacy Off

Had a happy 10.6.6 machine and updated to 10.6.7, but no love...maybe I'll do a vanilla install...but probably not.

i installed nbi then the 10.6.3 update then let it do its thing. even when i thought it crashed i just let it sit and didnt do anything. took a while but it finished and restarted with the hacked logo and i let it do its thing.

it restarted again and i didnt have audio. so i just shut it down and went to sleep. in the morning i turned it on and i got audio....not sure why its not working for you but i just shut it down and it worked.

btw did you interrupt the update cuz u thought it crashed?? if u did that might be the problem. some people were impatient and restarted when they weren't suppose to and it messed up their update.

Don't know if this will help with 10.6.3 but...

I just upgraded to 0.84 RC1 on my 10.6.2 Mini10v (in preparation for the 10.6.3 upgrade) and when I rebooted, no audio.

I found a post that someone had to re-install/reboot three times before the audio worked. I thought it sounded weird, but on the third re-run of NBI 0.8.4RC1 and then the third reboot, audio came back.

you may want to give that a try.

no....in fact plenty of people are having this same problem. i even rolled back to my 10.6.2 backup, then reapplied the 10.6.3 update. didn't interrupt it at all and still had the problem. i bet if you restart a couple times your audio will come in and out. the symptoms every single person in this thread are having are audio working about every 1/3 boot.

Got the same nosound-issue after the 10.6.3 update.
After re-run NBI 8.4 RC1 and reboot, the sound is back now .

My sound is dead again. On the 6th cold reboot it is greyed out.. Doh!!
I'm wondering now if the "About Mac Modifier" I ran a while back to correctly display the "Atom" Processor has modified the smbios.plist file as Meklort suggested.

Skuzzle.

I had USB legacy enabled and my sound disappered. I disabled it, the next boot took an awful long time with a progress bar at the bottom but since then the sound has been okay so far. I didn't reinstall NBI.

I have a fresh install of 10.6.3 and didn't have any problems updating but after few reboots got the "hibernate image old by .... seconds" i used fix from this forum and then went into bios and disabled bluetooth and usb legacy support (wake from usb was already disabled) , restart and got no sound issue. went back to bios enabled bluetooth and usb legacy support, boot and now sound is working. I also run "repair permissions" while I didn't have sound.
