Default CPU Replacement? - 05-25-2010, 09:04 PM

I admit I am not a total techy, but I am pretty tech savvy. The socket on my Studio Hybrid is a 478. Right now I have a 1.86 dual core. Could I replace this with a quad core with the same socket? Such as this: Amazon.com: Processor ( mobile ) - 1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q9100 / 2.26 GHz ( 1066 MHz ) - Socket P 478-pin Micro FCPGA - L2 12 MB - OEM: Electronics ?

Hello there.
I saw your different tread in the dell forum to upgrade your dell studio hybrid.
I acctualy have one and tey to upgrade this one too.
In a first time i've change the hdd drive with an osz vertex 2 ssd. Great upgrade, give many reactivity to this computer.
Secondly i use a broadcom crystal hd in a mini pciexpress port (great card to decode h264 video)
And last upgrade for me, i use 4g of ram.
But actually i hope to change my cpu to one having more performance.
I see your tread asking if it's possible to change the initial core2duo to a core2quad q9100 (the most powerfull one in this socket) but nobody answer to your question.
Could you told me if you tru something to change the cpu!?
And if yes what cpu if the most powerfull to change the original one!?
I hope you can help me and my experience can give you some idea
