My smaller Minis have no problem powering a slim DVD burner via USB, so I hope your machine is the same.

Hi fanatic,

I am using an older Dell slim DVD/RW USB drive with my M101z. I don't actually plug it into the powered USB port, but one of the ports on the left side. I don't use an external adapter with it. Granted, I haven't burned a disc, but I have installed multiple apps with it. Works great so far. I got this drive when I bought my first Mini 9 in 2008. Good luck!
