I never use it but after a quick test it works.

My Sound preferences tabs are;
Hardware is analog stereo duplex & set at 100%. mute is not checked
Input volume is set for 100% as is output, mute is not checked. Internal audio analog stereo shows as the device for sound input.
Output volume is set for 100%, mute is not checked. Internal audio analog stereo shows as the device for sound output. Connector is for Analog Speakers.
