Why only 16 gigs you ask. Because I have a XPS 720 h2c with 2 terabytes of HD, a Studio 17 with 500 gigs so the Mini9 is to just see what all the huff was about and something small to toss in the old suitcase for checking emails on my trips.

I upgrade from 8GB to 16GB - I only run XP at the moment and the cost of 32 GB (£112 = $161) or 64GB (£190 = $271) is silly.
for me the mini 9 is a small portable device that is used on the move, if I wanted to lug a full powered laptop around I would have bought one.

I ordered a 32GB so I can dual boot XP and OS X on it. I'll likely stick with OS X for the most part, but need XP on it for the support services I provide on location. I couldn't see the expense of a 64GB for my purposes.

Though I should qualify my post with the fact that I haven't received my Mini yet since the order was delayed and expected delivery date pushed to to the 11th. My RunCore isn't on the way yet either and it was ordered on the 20th.

I got the 64 GB because I got the Live Search cashback at 30% ($66) and it se. emed a great deal to get 64 GB for about $160 shipped. Also I wanted to carry all my genealogy and music and pictures with me. No regrets. I also have a 16GB SD card as semi-permanent storage too

Excellent hearing everyone's view points on this topic. I think I am going to continue down my path for the 32GB - enough not to feel cramped based on everyone else's experiences. Since I'm keeping this as my out and about / coffee table book, I don't see putting in the extra 100$ for the 64 when I already have another notebook.

Also, the more I invest in this, the more I would feel I have to take care of it and be super careful with it. As it is now, for $350 total, I'm a happy camper.

Thanks,

eB

I'm getting the 32 GB. I don't even have my Mini 9 yet, but I have already ordered the 32 GB RunCore SSD. I find the 64 GB RunCore too expensive, especially compared to the price of the Mini 9 itself, and 32 GB is more than enough for my needs.

I'm not going to run OS X - I'm going to use Ubuntu on my Mini 9. A fresh installation of Ubuntu 8.10 is less than 3 GB, so with a 32 GB SSD I'll have plenty of space.

I feel the same way. I had possession of my 32GB Runcore SSD before I received My Mini 9. I also felt that the 64GB is too expensive and that the 32GB is really more than enough. I used the restoration disk to reinstall Windows XP. I also upgraded to 2GB of RAM from Crucial.

Well, my 32GB is en route right now! So I guess I can actually say I have a 32GB drive now.

If wait time were equal, and cash no object would the 64GB be a better deal is speed was the the overriding need? It seems that a lot of us want to push the Mini 9 to the speed max. I've got a 32 on order but would probably convert to order to a 64 is you all thought there was a speed difference.
