Default Trying to install Snow Leopard on Mini 9 - 09-12-2009, 06:58 PM

I'm trying to figure out how to install snow leopard onto a Mini 9. The instructional guide isn't making much sense to me as I've never done this before. Am I able to set everything up for it on a windows XP computer? Or can it only be done using a Mac for setting it up? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

For the time being there is no guide explicitly available detailing the procedure to install SL using a PC. You can follow mechdrew's guides (linked in my signature) and replace any mention of OSX 10.5.x with OSX 10.6 and use NetbookInstaller instead of DellEFI

Thank-you kindly. I'll give it a try and see how it works out for me.

Mechdrew's 10.5.8 installation steps work great for installing 10.6.0. Don't forget to get the NetBootMaker 0.8.2 final and not a release candidate. If you use RC4 or earlier, your Snow Leopard installation wizard will boot but your drive will not.

Well, I ended up using mechdrews main method guide, simply because the one using windows and 2 flashes wouldn't work for me. Lucky enough a friend of mine doing the same program as me got a mac book over the summer and helped me prep it all. Snow leopard is now installed and it's beautiful

Thanks for the help

You need a special bootloader to make the DVD installation work. You can find the DVD bootloader in one of the threads here but the Install DVD -> USB drive copy method works so much easier. I bought an 8GB memory stick specifically for that purpose.
