Default Strange Costco link...Have a looksie. - 09-06-2009, 08:58 PM

Noticed this on the Costco.ca website.

Mini 10v?

A reasonable deal nonetheless, HOWEVER:
- Noted as a 10v, but claims to have 1366 glossy display with Intel 950
- Bluetooth onboard!
- Wireless N!
- Atom 270 processor.

Now I know that Costco sometimes gets specially spec'd items, however (to my knowledge...) the 10v does not have the high-res display option.
Therefore, this is either a mis-labelled Mini 10 (The Atom 270 and Intel 950 would speak against this...) or a missed-spec'd 10v which does NOT have the high-res display. It will be interesting to see whether bluetooth and wireless N are included, however!

I am going to order and see what happens!!

Cheers,
-M.

weird, it also says VGA port, but doesnt the 10 have HDMI? Also it says 2 USB ports. 10v has 3. does the 10 only have 2?

To be blunt; this whole thing looks like someone at Costco does not have the slightest idea what they are trying to sell. You have specs from both the 1010 and the 1011 in this ad. If I were you I would not touch this deal with a 20 foot pole. No telling what you will end up getting. fdalbor

...that's the thing: you can't go wrong! If it isn't satisfactory, I can simply dump the thing at my local Costco no questions asked.

In the end, if it's a basic 10v without bluetooth or wireless-N, then it costs about what I paid at my local Best Buy--the only problem is that it seems to spec a 3-cell battery rather than the 6.

I'm kind of excited--it's like an easter egg hunt and the prize is a surprise!

Good luck man. You have more guts than I do; or more money (hahaha). Anyway; good luck with what ever you get. fdalbor

Well, in the end, the mystery will go unsolved...

I chickened out, cancelled the order, and got exactly what I wanted from Dell Canada. I knew that I likely wouldn't be getting the high res screen and GPS, which is actually what I wanted.

If anyone else takes the plunge, please post here with details...

I'm pretty sure it was a 1011, and it cannot come with the high res screen or gps, so you probably made the right move. But ya know I was kind of rooting for you that you would get a great deal and get exactly what you wanted at a great price. At lease now you know what you will be getting even if the price is not as good.
Goodluck with the new system when it arrives; I am sure you can't wait. fdalbor

Well, the drama continues...I cancelled my order (and received confirmation) but they sent me one anyway!

- It IS a mini 10v (1011) as expected.
- It has a 270 processor, with 1 Gb ram.
- it DOES have bluetooth.
- it DOES have the wireless-N card.
- It only has the standard screen (1024x600) as expected.

All-in-all, not a bad deal...and I actually like it better than the mini 10 I ordered from Dell. The only problem is, you can't have the high-res screen or the GPS!

Therefore, I am now planning to send the Mini 10 back to Dell (hopefully they won't charge the restocking fee!!) as the processor is too slow, the ram not upgradeable, and no VGA out (only HDMI, which I did not realize...)

Somehow, I am going to have to find out a way to PAY for the Mini 10v I was sent by way of Costco without actually getting another one sent to me--so far I haven't been charged for anything!!

Cheers,
-M.

I also jumped on this when I saw the high-res screen option! It was quite the package for $349, although the price has now jumped to $379. It came to $391.22 after taxes.

Anyhow, I have since received it, and it does not have the 1366x768 screen, it only has the regular 1024x600 screen. You'll notice that they've updated the link - they've changed the screen from "10.1-in. WLED glossy HD display (1366 x 768)" to "10.1-in. WSVGA glossy display (1024 x 576)" which still isn't correct

It does come with the standard 3 USB ports (not 2 as suggested by the description), and it does have the wireless N, bluetooth, 1.3MP webcam, etc. It's a fully loaded 10v, it just would have been even better with that screen.

I'm currently dealing with Costco support on the issue, I'll post back with what comes of that if anyone is interested.
