Default 10.4 Tiger - 07-23-2011, 02:30 AM

I have a copy of OS X Tiger 10.4. Can this be installed on a Dell Mini 10v? If not, are there any suggestions or workarounds? Or do I have to get a more updated version of OS X?

Thanks in advance

The Intel version of Tiger was never released as a Retail disc. It is also now quite depreciated.

You can run either 10.5.x Leopard or 10.6.x Snow Leopard on the Mini 10v. Of the 2 choices, I would go with Snow Leopard as it is cheaper ($29) and takes up less space once installed.

ok i kinda figured. i got the 10.4 as a freebee from Apple back when i had my ibook. it came with 4 installation cds, 2 development disks, booklet and iworks trial cd. i had to mail in some coupon and Apple sent it to me for free. i dont have the ibook anymore and never used the disks just thought i could put them to some good use. guess not. ill go get snow leopard. thanks.

You can sell them on eBay for a pretty decent chunk of change.

Tiger is getting harder to find every day, and if it's the CD version, it's even rarer.

This isn't exactly true. Yes, the CD versions of Tiger are extremely hard to find but if the copy of Tiger is a restore version (which it sounds like it is, based on how it was supposed to be for an iBook) then the discs will only be useful to those who own iBooks of the exact model. Just wanted to make sure that was pointed out.

yea probably. i think the old ibook i had was a G4. i looked along the box and it says for PowerPC G5, G4 or G3 processor and some other tech specs. then it says "dont steal software" lol on the box. i thought that was cute.
