Many thanks, I really wanted it to work, and as I said before this is perfect software for emails and general tasks etc- but even though you say it uses less resources, and it probably does- those different resources must interfere with the art packages I use that probably rely on the traditional shell for them to work quickly. ArtRage became painfully slow and unusable, not Thinix's fault of course but I thought it is important for people to know about these risks. The firefox and menus shouting problem could have been a conflict with origami that was installed on the machine. Anyway it gave me a good excuse to do a complete reinstall of windows 7. All the best
