I am planning to use the Mini as a media player in a small room, the sound is fairly poor from the speakers so I'm thinking of rigging up some external speaker for it....

Do not delete \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

There is advice on slimming down Vista that promotes deleteing the contents of the DriverStore\FileRepository\ however this can cause problems.

I deleted it following general slimming down advice...
