Go find a really heavy duty USB cable. ( nice and thick ). That will carry current better. I had the same problem with my iomagic drive and a heavier cable fixed things.

If you've got an ipod and other apple products your best bet would be to use the Universal setting. That is geared for good looking video from an ipod to apple tv. It's what I rip to these days.

the problem with the iomagic drive that you get from dell is that it has a poor usb cable.

Get a real heavy duty one and it'll be fine. ( I used the one I have for my old sony dvd burner)
