I am running A05 and XP. No problems so far. I have run the batter down plugged it back in, charged it up over and over again without a restart and am not seeing the issue. I did run into an issue with my power supply going bad and squeeling at around 4 months. Dell sent a new one which looks slightly different from the one that came with my Mini 9. The edges of the adapter are rounder. If you are under warranty they will send a new one no charge. If not the invoice showed 14.99 + shipping/tax.

Turns out that the custom dsdt file installed to make OS X run on the mini 9 has code that fixes some of the battery problems that A05 fixes. That's probably why I can't see the problem on my mini running A04.

Default UK vs US? WWAN vs No WWAN? - 06-25-2009, 04:50 AM

I have 2 Mini 9s, one that was bought from Dell US without a WWAN slot and one that was acquired from another UK forum member that has a WWAN slot populated with a Dell 5530 mobile card.

My US model does not exhibit this problem, but my UK model does.

I wonder if this could be a difference between:

UK vs US models
WWAN slot vs No WWAN slot
Filled WWAN slot vs Empty WWAN slot

Just throwing out some ideas...

i regularly use it on battery untill the amber light comes on and then charge back up ok. and virtually never cold boot my mini as i just hibernate it all the time.

No WWAN slot here. Has anyone tried reverting to an older BIOS and seeing if it went away?

Same, I have the battery problem. Had 4 hours now it's down to 3 hours after installing XP. Anyone who got their Mini with XP and just upgraded the BIOS have the same problem?

I just checked it again, using BatteryBar and found out something weird. Right after turning the netbook on, the battery bar on the taskbar said I only had about 2 to almost 3 hours but after maybe 5 minutes it jumped to almost 4 hours. I checked the windows battery icon on system tray and it also says almost 4 hours. What I dont understand is BatteryBar says the Full Lifetime is 3:30 but in Battery it says almost 4 hours.

i found that when you press "fn + 3" the battery meter comes up and under the tab "battery life" there is a checkbox to disable battery charging. could this cause the issue?

regards,

ken

I seem to have a different problem. My Mini9 has no problem charging while the machine is on. But when it hits 100%, it continues"Charging" and doesn't switch to "A/C Only" mode.
