Angry 10V is too big!!!!! - 06-02-2009, 06:32 PM

In the blog post she directs customers to the 10V as a suitable substitute. Unfortunately, the 10V has lower screen resolution, and much, much more important - it is bigger - the case is physically larger. Many of us prefer the 9 inch size as optimal and Dell just doesn't get it!!!!

Ah ... it figures! I looked all day (and I do mean all day) yesterday at the business Outlet waiting for any A90s to appear to no avail. The ones showing now are mostly over the price I paid - and the ones that were slightly lower price would be about on par to what I'm paying if you add tax and shipping. No big disappointment here.

I would only pause to consider the warranty upgrade. Still, there's just something wrong with paying for a 3 year warranty (w/ Complete Care) that is about (if not more) expensive than the machine itself. ... ... /pass

True, while I agree with you, she's just "doing her job." I'm pretty sure she's not the one who made the decision or is causing the "supply issues", it's just the way it is. They've discontinued the Mini 9, plain and simple, and in lieu of the Mini 9, now that it's not available brand new, she's just suggesting the next closest option they offer, which though slightly different of course, would in fact be the Mini 10v.

Also, if "supply issues" are truly the cause, then Dell DOES get it...they just can't get it...as in they can't get what they need from a supplier to continue making them. That said, no reason to fault Dell...that's just life. Things come and go.

Sorry, don't necessarily mean to quote you directly, but I just see sooooooo many people crying out that Dell's making a mistake when they (Dell) so obviously KNOW it's a popular item, but just can't get the necessary parts or whatever to keep making them. C'est la vie...

Default Really glad I got one when I did - 06-02-2009, 07:13 PM

Not more than 6 weeks ago on ebay I got a Red one with a 32GB SSD and 1 GB ram for $305 shipped with Ubuntu. It was "previously ordered" but looks BRAND NEW.

Ubuntu is gone, as is the 1 GB RAM. Love OS-X on it with 2 GB RAM.

I did notice about three weeks ago the supply seemed to start to dwindle on Ebay but didn't think much of it.

Wow-this could be my first collector's item

well,I got mine, and 2 colors to choose from (still got my Black lid), so im happy, for now.

Maybe Dell is prepping for a Mini 9 ION Netbook (hehe, funny if its dubbed Mini 9i), tho more likely,if its ION, im gonna guess its gonna be 10 inch.

All speculation of course, just saying...

Supply issues which effect the Mini9 would likely effect the Vostro A90 due to the "sameness of design". So, I would hazard a guess that the A90 is going to meet the Grim Reaper soon as well ...

(Dell = Dumb) IMHO

Geez this is a bummer. I was getting ready to post the 1st one I bought in the For Sale forum, or list on Craigslist with OSX. Maybe I'll hang onto it a while. (Had to get one with built in camera and Bluetooth to keep after I decided how much fun it was...neat little GPS system too)
I don't think DELL wasn't aware of how popular the Mini9 had become. Seems like everything in the Outlet made about a $20 to $40 jump in price a few weeks back, so even with the 15% coupons, I think they were doing okay on these things.
Maybe keep looking for 1 more out of the Outlet for "safekeeping" too?

I am very happy with my Dell Mini 9 with OSX! Only: what about the availibility of a battery? Will this still be sold via the Dell-site? Other options?
The MDD has some compatibility problems, the 8-cell is too thick for my taste...

Dell will continue to sell replacement batteries for quite a while, I am sure. You can still get batteries for notebooks that haven't been sold for five and six years.
