Dell has always been an online-exclusive retailer with an advanced customisation and build process that really allowed customers to be in control of their purchase down to the fine details.

It has since been announced that this trend will be broken for the release of the Inspiron Mini 9 in Asia (except Japan). Only one specification will be available, and will only go on sale in retail outlets. It will however, be available in Black and white models with no extra cost.

The specifications of the Asia model are as follows:

• 1GB RAM[/*:m:1fl78q0r]
• 8GB SSD[/*:m:1fl78q0r]
• 1.3MP Webcam[/*:m:1fl78q0r]
• Internal Bluetoooth mini-card[/*:m:1fl78q0r]
• Windows XP Home Edition[/*:m:1fl78q0r]

Of course this is all wrapped up with our normal Intel Atom processor, wireless capabilities and 8.9 inch display.
It has been reported that other models with upgraded components will be available in the future.

Officeworks in Australia will be getting the mini in store, as part of Dell's retail push Down Under.

The mini has appeared at Tesco's supermarket in the uk. Seems to be linux only 1gb ram and 8gb ssd. It does not say which webcam it has although it is there. No mention of bluetooth as far as I can see.

Currently out of stock but only £250. Thats cheaper than the dell site.

Has anyone bought one of these? I would be interested to see how they differ to the ones direct from dell.

If you are comparing dell to say hp or sony, then this is the case but for complete control of your build, doing it yourself is second to none. I am not trying to flame or be a troll.
