The dates are not mistakes - you just have to know how to read them: they are based on Dell's fiscal calendar.
The fiscal year number is one higher than the calendar year number (except in January, which is the last month of the fiscal year).
Q3FY09 = Aug 2008 - Oct 2008

Okay so here's my timeline:

April 17th - Mini10 gets updated with new CPU and vista
End of April - Mini9 reaches end of life
Mid year - Remaining models get updated with Intel Pineview
Unknown - Adamo9 gets released

So _IF_ the mini9 is definitely going to be discontinued, then the clear choice (IMO) is to buy it now. Otherwise there's the possibility of waiting for Pineview on the mini9.

As for the adamo9, I'm guessing it won't have an atom (and thus it won't be passively cooled). So the real question is whether or not the mini9 will be discontinued... it certainly looks like it.

So our Mini9's could become valuable antiques?

Well I'm not sure about valuable, but give it a decade or so and your Mini will certainly be antique

(In all seriousness, I really like the size of the 9 so I'm probably going to buy one now.)

By the by.. anyone else notice what they said about the 11.6"?

Quote:
11.6" ULV Cel/Pent, 2GB+, 160GB+, Vista/Win
So basically, no Atom processor, so odds are 2.0GHz +, support for 2GB or more, and more interestingly, Vista/Win.

Vista/Win, do they mean Win7? Looks like they are preparing the computer to be good for Win7 or a preliminary Win7 release date?

Mini 9, 16GB SSD, 2GB RAM, Win7100, Bluetooth, 1.3MP, 8GB SDHC, German, No built in WWAN

I find it interesting that MS is killing off XP as of 4-14-09 with extended support (security updates) ending on 4-08-14. Meanwhile the Mini 9 seems to be going away not too long after this. Maybe Dell will keep it around for the Linux buyers. I, for one, see no reason to go to a Mini 10. The 9 runs just great and can do everything I want it to. Since I already have a full size laptop (e1705) I don't need another one. I really think that Dell is missing a great opportunity by killing off the 9. I am holding hope that they will see the light and update the 9 and release it again. Especially with the success many users are having with Windows 7. I won't run it but if that's what it takes to keep the 9 alive, I'll just reload with my choice of Linux. Or better yet maybe they'll update their load of Dellbuntu.

Understandable since like I said above, they are killing off extended support in 2014. Extended support is security updates. They are however, ending availability of XP for new installs, including builders like Dell....

Have anybody heard any more news regarding the infamous "leak"? If the Mini 10 (bear) is true that's my ticket! A mini 9 with mini 10 form factor! Yup!

Cheers!
