Default Dell Adamo to be Released Tomorrow? - 03-16-2009, 06:37 PM

A very sharp Engadget reader has spotted a leak in a sponsored linked in a Google search result, indicating a release date of 17/3 for the Dell Adamo!

Hit the via link for more info.

While I truly feel that Adamo looks and could be a fantastic laptop...I don't think it falls into the Mini realm of things...not yet anyways

If they brought out a Adamo series in the mini size I might just explode :P haha

There were also mentions around the blogosphere of a adamo 9. Fancy form factor netbook anyone?

So that Adamo is up on Dell's site, and it's pretty much a Macbook Air without OSX. Wonderfully thin and light and pretty, with an eye-popping price. 2g RAM, 128g SSD, 1.2 ghz Core2 Duo, 1366x768 panel starts at $1999. That's more than 2x what my first car cost! They're offering fitted Tumi leather sleeves for $495, and "Premium Adamo support" that touts calls answered in under 2 minutes, but I didn't see a word about a guarantee of that. Unless there's a deal at the outlet or it flops at that price and they reprice it, I'll never have one.

'Admire'
1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with Centrino technology
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 64 bit
2GB 800MHz DDR3 dual-channel memory3
128GB4 solid state drive
start at £ 1649
'Desire'
1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with Centrino technology
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium 64 bit
4GB 800MHz DDR3 dual-channel memory3
128GB4 solid state drive
Mobile Broadband2
Start at £2249

At those prices I neither admire or desire either! WTF do Dell think they are up to? The move to the netbook has been all about delivering basic needs in a small format at an acceptable price. These two attempt to take on the fashion-conscious Apple buyers and assumes there are more mugs out there willing to pay well over the odds for style over function during a recession. It's a flop now and will be a flop in 6 months time. Stupid Dell - listen to your customers!
