I think that iPad's remain great for consuming content but something with a keyboard like a laptop and netbook is still better for creating content.

Note that inexpensive keyboards are available for tablets when that's what you need, though it's still not an ideal solution when doing heavy editing.

I think that adding keyboards and mice or any other external device to a Ipad defeats the whole purpose of the Ipad in the first place. What is the use of having the thing if you have to haul along a suitcase of other stuff to make it do what you want it to do.

If you like the Ipad and find it usefull then thats great; but I don't think adding stuff to it is the answer. You would be better off buying a device that does all that you want it to do to start with. Just my humble opinion. fdalbor

Here's a perspective of which product is good for which activity.

I can tell you right now that I reach for my iPad far more frequently than my mini9. It is far lighter and seems to have more utility in certain areas (bigger drive, larger screen, better battery life). I can tell you though my mini is the first thing I reach for when I need to ssh into my desktop or to bring with me for videos (external drive all mkv rips). The iPad can do neither of those things well. FYI I have Dell mini 9 10 hour battery 8gb ssd joli os 1.2 and ipad2 64gb wifi

Yes, I think the tablet killed the netbook (if the netbook wasn't slowly killing itself anyway).

That's my view as well. I sold my mini 9 and 10v because I really didn't use either as much as I thought I would (and I kinda just bought them to install a triple boot and then figure out where they fit in my routine). I also sold my iPad because I already have an iPhone and it was basically the same thing (although I do miss the larger News360 app). To replace the iPad, I bought an 11" MacBook air and I can't put this thing down. It's about the same size as an iPad when closed but it's a full functioned laptop. I actually bought a new MacBook Pro at the same time that I bought the Air thinking that it would be my main computer (replacing a 2007 MacBook) since the Air only has a 64gb SSD. I should have waited on the upgrade to the Pro because I haven't touched it for months, I've really only turned it on right after I bought it.

While I will rule out a netbook as it doesn't fill a void better for me anywhere (unless you consider an Air a netbook), I do see myself with another tablet in the future. I've already bought a Nook Color and rooted a triple boot android. If the next generation iPad has some more enticing upgrades than the last, I'll go back. I purchased iPads for my girlfriend and Mom, which they both love and use frequently. I would have never considered suggesting a netbook for either one of them, I don't know what they would use them for.

Sorry, just read that. I'm opposite in most situations except in the car. I would always grab for the Air. It comes on pretty quick (faster than my other MacBooks), has a keyboard and is full functioned. I don't have to think about what tasks I'm going to perform because it'll do them. I've found that I've put an iPad down to turn the Air on anyway so why not save the time?

They need each other. I have a 2100 lat and I like it. I sold my second IPAD to get a netbook.
