Default Dell Leads with Sandy Bridge System Options; More Coming Soon - 03-07-2011, 06:51 PM

Dell today announced that it soon will introduce new Sandy Bridge-equipped systems, building on its already large portfolio of products featuring the Intel 6 Series chipsets.
The new products, which will roll out in the next six weeks, will be found in the company’s leading Inspiron product line and a new ultra-slim notebook that will combine beauty and brawn in a form factor that will excite and delight.

“Everyone from hard-core gamers to professional users and small-business owners can now choose Intel 6-equipped systems from Dell, delivering the ultimate performance they need to do more,” said Sam Burd, vice president of Dell’s consumer and small/medium business product group. “We are committed to the technology, and will be incorporating the architecture into additional products in the coming months, including our award-winning and popular Inspiron series and an innovative new form factor that will debut this spring.”

Further details about the new Inspiron systems will be announced next week; the new ultra-slim consumer notebook will be revealed in April.

Me too! I find the current line uninteresting. AMD based inspiron is not on my list so I am excited on these new offering.

11.6 to 12.1 screen, thin, light and twice as powerful as the fastest atom.

I got a ad a few days ago from Dell the Vostro and wanted to check it out..

When I clicked details on a low end model it said up to a i7 processor so I went to look deeper into this and had to click the configuer button to find it only came with a i5

I called to ask why the details say i7 and just got a bunch of people wanting to give me a bunch of BS...

I would triple check anything from Dell before you buy it...

Got an email ad from Dell for a new inexpensive laptop with switchable lids. The ad claimed it had the new Sandy Bridge "Second Generation Intel Core" processors.

But yes, I often see that the initial description of a model will misrepresent which CPU is available for it.
