Today, Dell started a brand new "10 Days of Deals", basically, different deals on different days for the 10 days from the 14th October to the 23rd. The main point of interest for this community is that the Dell Mini gets some kind of discount on the 16th October, though what it is yet is not quite stated. Does this mean that Dell are finally getting over the supply and demand problems in the US? Who knows. Well it's the 16th est and no dell mini listed for day 8 of the deals. Hopefully we'll see something eventually, but not holding my breath. |

They claim it is $80 off but that isn't really true. A fully specced out Mini 9 (16GB SSD, Bluetooth, 1.3mp Camera) comes to $484 instead of the usual $494, a massive $10 savings. |

It appears they include a 4GB Ultra II SDHC Flash Memory Card in this deal. I think I'll pass on this deal and plan to order a basic Linux stripper and adding only an 8GB SSD and Bluetooth. I'll load XP Pro from the laptop this replaces, and I'll order 2 GB RAM right away. That gives me more for less. I suppose I'll look at adding a larger SSD sometime when they are more available and cheaper, but I'm not sure I'd really need even a 16GB SSD. This is really more of a super PDA in my application. |

I'd definitely recommend you get the 16 rather than the 8... not for the storage space, which is nice, but for the speed. The 4 and 8 are roughly half the speed of the 16. |
