| Retired Mini user Posts: 1,577 Join Date: Oct 2008 | [news-img:25f3e5j6]/images/news/tvtuner.jpg[/news-img:25f3e5j6]Dell have just announced (along with many other things today) a USB digital TV tuner especially crafted for the Dell Mini range of netbooks. From the image it appears to simply plug into a USB and it uses a telescopic aerial to get signal. First question that pops into my mind is why it doesn't harness the use of the existing antennae for wifi/3G, possibly a hardware implication? [via Engadget] |

| Junior Member Posts: 1 Join Date: Feb 2009 | I might be wrong, but I suspect the reason that the tuners don't use the Wifi antenna or vice versa, is that the length of the antenna is directly related to the wavelength of the radio frequency. The frequency of Wifi is 2.4Ghz; TV is measured in the tens of Mhz. |
