Default Re: Dell rolls out 64gb SSD option - For Linux only. - 02-12-2009, 05:59 PM

Yesterday I received word from Dell customer service that my 3rd Mini refurb (with 32GB SSD) was on backorder as they didn't have Alpine White in stock. They offered black, but I turned it down due to the fact that it shows scratches and fingerprints so easily.

So I perused the Dell Outlet throughout the day and as luck would have it, I stumbled across a "Previously Ordered New" Mini in white with the 64GB SSD option (and with 2GB RAM) for $389! So I bought it. Already received a shipping confirmation email this morning.

Just got off the phone with a Dell sales rep.
The Dell parts are WAYYYY expensive if ordered seperately through them.
The 64GB drive is $299US part num F462N
The 32GB drive is $224US part num U818M

But I did order the Vostro A90 Palm Rest for only $14.99... so that was pretty nice since some of the other places are only selling refurbs for $70US (bigEstock.com)...

Just figured I'd let you guys know...

I think I'll go ahead and just purchase/wait for the runcore for a better deal. 219 and 119 for, i believe, better performance.

Why would anyone in their right winged mind pay $300 for a refurbed drive that cost $150 additional and there is new one waiting for you to order it from MemoryC or MyDigitalDiscount (MDD)?

Keep your eyes open and you can get lucky and find a 64GB model (whole computer) on the outlet for just a 100 or so bucks more.
