Default Recovering from OS X 10.6.2 - 11-12-2009, 09:42 AM

Despite lots of will-they-or-won't-they with Apple, regarding killing off Intel Atom support, The latest 10.6.2 Mac OS X upgrade drops support for Atom processors. Thankfully our local OS X guru Meklort has come up with a solution for rolling back your kernel to 10.6.1 while keeping all the features of 10.6.2.

Our Mac OS X forum is buzzing with activity since the release of the update, and as per usual with hackintosh'n methods, there are many ways to get the job done.

Check out Meklorts kernel roll back instructions here, if you take even the slightest interest in hackintoshing you certainly might want to give the whole thread a read.

Well, that's a shame. I'm not an OS X user myself, but I was glad that it was an option for those who wanted it.

I do think that Apple is shooting itself in the foot a bit by undercutting 3rd party products that do not compete with anything that Apple itself currently produces.

It like they are now missing out on advertising they aren't really paying for. A hackintosh might lead people to go buy a real Apple laptop.

Nice announcement hopefully it will help clean things up and reduce duplicate threads!

Two people in my office did just that, and several others are now considering it.

Sorry... my poor attempt at English humour/sarcasm... we all know that pigs can't fly anyway

It was just that I was rather sceptical that your comment that the announcement would help actuallyhelp to reduce duplicate threads was (in my opinion anyway) extremely unlikely, as these do seem to be on the increase again.

New (ans some not so new!) members sem very reluctant to use the inbuilt Search facility, or even to read through an entire post before asking a question which has been answered already... often more than once!

Anyway...none of us are perfect, are we... especially not me!

Finally gave up on my hackintosh mini9. Apple has every right to keep to this practice, but I hoped they wouldn't. Installed Windows 7 yesterday and it is very good. Battery life is better than SL. Bootup time is a few seconds slower, but shutdown is almost instantaneous. All hardware was recognized, expect for the trackpad, but thanks to the help of this forum, all is well.

You know that the new NetbookInstaller .8.3RC4 fixes all of these issues...
