Default Re: Hacked Bluetooth Driver appears for Dell Mini 9 - 10-20-2008, 02:48 AM

I have a weird issue that has me stumped. I have installed this lean and mean driver (on a clean XP Pro SP3 mini) and use Bluetooth to tether my mobile (for internet browsing), Whilst I can ping sites fine, my browsing is exceptionally slow - sites take minutes to load.

If I then install the original Widcomm driver it all works fine!

Now, could this be something to do with MTU settings?

I just figured I would ask...

I ran the driver executable file, had it unzip the data, & then cancelled the installation. Then I went to the device manager & pointed the BT driver install to the dell directory the executable created, it then added the BT without all that junky software.

This is from a clean XP Pro install with SP3.

I was curious if using the supplied driver alone without the addon software is better or worse than the hacked driver?

I have not used BT at all yet.

Thanks,
Rich

With this hacked driver my Jabra BT8010 stereo bluetooth headset and its A2DP profile does not work, with the standard driver it works nice, both profiles (A2DP & headset).

Yeah the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack (which this driver uses) doesn't support bluetooth headsets so your have to use Widcomm for that

Works better for simple things like file transfers, syncing phones and sharing internet well though

Hey man,

Curious about this also, as it seems quite sensible. Any findings to report back?

Cheers,

Suman

I just installed W7 Ult and using the default driver, should I use this one?

Also how do you turn it off and on? I tried Fn+2...

I would just use the standard Windows 7 driver. You need to install the Wireless Switch application to get Fn-2 to work. See the driver list in the Windows 7 Guides section for details.
