Default Vodafone Starts Taking Pre-Orders - 10-03-2008, 11:19 PM

[news-img:3d3s0jh0]http://www.mydellmini.com/images/news/dell-mini-vodafone.jpg[/news-img:3d3s0jh0]In the past few hours the Vodafone website has been updated with a pre-order form for their Dell Mini with 3G Mobile Broadband package.

The official release is the 13th October and as stated on the website they plan to have everything delivered to the consumer on the 14th. The Dell Mini shipped is configured with Windows XP Home, 8GB SSD, 1GB RAM, Bluetooth and all the usual features - except no mention of a web cam.

The packages you can sign up for are as follows:
  • £25 a month/1GB Transfer[/*:m:3d3s0jh0]
  • £30 a month/3GB Transfer[/*:m:3d3s0jh0]
Both contracts are for 2 years and the Dell Mini comes completely free!
This is obviously a UK-only deal and one of the first of its kind. Hopefully other mobile providers will follow...

Check out the Vodafone Dell Mini Pre-Order page!

If you buy the £25pcm deal it totals £600 over the 2 year contract, so that less the cost of the mini (£300 approx - although it comes with an 8GB SSD rather than the usual 16GB you get with an XP setup) comes to around £300.

This effectively means you are getting a 1GB transfer plan for £12.50 a month.

If you took up the 3GB plan it would cost you a fiver more at £17.50, but have triple the limit.

Cool - what price plan did you opt for?

Additionally, were there any other plans in store that differ from the ones on the Vodafone site?

Same plans as online. I went for the £25 as I'm not sure how much data I'll need month-to-month. They said I can easily upgrade to the 3gb plan at any time if I need to.

So far, it's working like a charm and came just in time for a work-trip where it's going to be very useful.

I have the 3 Gb opion. The deal seams good to me, as I would need a usb dongle for internet access. This way I get the mini 9 too. When you look at the UK market, this offer by Vodafone is very competative, and the mini 9 is a good model for upgrading etc.

Cheers

Jules

I've had mine for a week or so , the only issue is that its the 8gb ssd version but I am waiting on a 32gb ssd arriving and that together with my 2gb ram makes it a sweet little box.

Only thing is that it will be well out of date by the time the contract is up
