this is kind of annoying since i just bought a 9 refurb in black like a month ago for $289 with no camera...

i would have preferred white & with a camera and now i can get a new one for $199 (or $209 for the 1.3)? ugh....

granted mine came with XP and had an 16GB hdd but i upgraded to a 32gb runcore and installed osx so this would have been great for me...

I hacked a couple of Mini 9's to run OSX, but these ones on sale have Ubuntu as their OS. Anyone know if it's the same procedure as with a Micrsoft OS?

If you mean just installing Windows its very easy you just need an optical drive, although there are some ways to install from a USB stick.

You'll need a list of drivers too, which you can find by searching the forum.

Sorry I guess I wasn't too clear. I mean can I convert one of these Mini9's over to OSX from Ubuntu ? I was able to do so with one that had Windows installed, just wondering if I'll have any trouble with one if these from Ubuntu to OSX. (I already have the USB set up from the previous Hackintosh's I did)

Should be no problem. Same hardware. Instead of deleting Windows you're deleting Ubuntu.

Thanks for the heads-up on the front page, Dunhamzzz. I loaded the site to thank derfasaurus, for the excellent Mini 9 ICC color profile he made, when I saw the news.

White Ubuntu models, with Bluetooth and 1.3Mpx webcams are in my mom's and in my girlfriend's futures now. Someone will likely get the 16GB STEC from my red Mini, and someone else will be picking up a 32GB Runcore.

@IMAJF, night_rider
There are at least a couple of potential hardware differences between the Win XP models and the Ubuntus:

• Win XP models come with 8GB or 16GB SSDs. Ubuntu models are available with 4GB SSDs, which won't be enough for Mac OS X, but are great for upgrading later to a 32GB+ SSD.
• Ubuntu models don't come with the lovely "Designed for Microsoft® Windows® XP" stickers, so consider your purchases carefully.

Mini 9 (Cherry Red): 2GB HyperX RAM / 16GB SSD / 1.3Mpx cam / Bluetooth / no WWAN
US-INTL keyboard, MOTOROKR S9 (black/red). Mac OS X 10.5.8, NbBM/NbI 0.8.3 RC2, BIOS A04.
16GB Transcend Class 6 SDHCs shared with camera & video players, black/red neoprene case from DX.

Available: 1GB RAM (OEM).
Interested in: Runcore, GPS mods, protective skins.

I ordered another one. -How could I NOT?

Look, the reason I don't participate on this forum as much as I used to is the fact that my Mini 9 (after some modding and breaking and repairing and more modding) is a wonderfully stable and consistent daily runner!
-after a certain point I just didn't have anything new to talk about! I just use it!

With two of them I can rest assured that I'll have one good runner for the foreseeable future.

Can anyone confirm if the price is still $199? It shows up at $239 for me.
