With BIOS A02 comes a bit of a surprise. Fn-Z is now F11 and Fn-X is F12. This will work in any OS since this is a BIOS fix.

Download the new BIOS A02 and other drivers for the Mini 9 here.

DO NOT...repeat...DO NOT attempt to flash your BIOS under anything but DOS since several people have reported 'bricking' their Mini by attempting the flash via Dell's app: bios-a02-is-out,-anyone-find-out-whats-new--t914s40.html#p8359

Flashing your BIOS under DOS is the only 100% safe solution for flashing the BIOS of your 910 or A90...

If you have another computer running XP or Vista, you could build a DOS bootable USB Flash Drive and use it to boot your Mini in order to flash to the latest BIOS...

I just flashed my BIOS using Dell's update. (Not in DOS, mind you. I just downloaded Dell's update, plugged my Mini in, closed all programs, and then ran the update.) It was painless and quick. Took about 1-2 minutes for the update to complete itself before rebooting. F11 and F12 are indeed now mapped to Fn+Z and Fn+X, respectively.

In all my years of having windows based computers, I have never used function keys, what do you guys use them for?

F11 is very commonly used as a "fullscreen" button in Windows. In OS X, F11 and F12 are commonly used for window management.

Software developers who use Visual Studio typically have a number of function keys burned into their fingertips: F5 - run, F9 - set breakpoint, F10 step over, F11 - step in...

F5 works as Refresh or Rescan in many apps.
