Default RunCore SSD on a 10v - 10-08-2009, 03:39 PM

Hello,
New member, new 10v owner here.
What (if any) of the RunCore SSD's would fit in a 10v?

Pardon my ignorance but I just ordered a 10v and if I can convert it to SSD I would.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to MyDellMini

Any 2.5" SATA SSD will work in your Mini 10v. For example, the following RunCore (and any other SATA SSD)

www.mydigitaldiscount.com Browse By Brand:RunCore:RunCore 2.5 Inch Pro IV SATA II SSD for Mac Category

OR any of these :

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Hard Drives,Solid State Disks,SATA II

Thanks for the info. I am going to convert it once I get it, and once I try my hand at installing OSX. Been pouring over these forms and there is TONS of good info here. Love it!!!

Dan, do you have a price range you are trying to stick with?

Are you looking for all out speed or are you interested in a longer life for your SSD? Many drives on the market right now are a bit of a trade-off between the two.

For speed, this is my personal favorite balance of size/speed/price:
Newegg.com - Corsair P128 (CMFSSD-128GBG2D) 2.5" 128GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

That is the exact one I am debating about. Good reviews, good price point etc.
Looks like a decent balance. I want the SSD for the quiet, battery life, and NO HEAT.
Now that I have OSX 10.6.1 running on it I just need to poiny up the cash for this.

SSDs do generate heat. A lot of it, by some counts.
