| I just found out the my STEC SSD is hosed. I thought I had a problem with BIOS, but the problem was my had. I tried and was successful in putting the Dell Mini Bios in my Vostro. Now I want to put the correct BIOS, using the procedure in this page, but the only thing I get is a Black Screen with: FreeDOS FAT Kernel_ where the underscore is the prompt. Nothing else goes on. What gives? Could it be that the HD prevents the BIOS to be written? Thanks. PS---> By the way, if one gets the following message on the screen as the Dell boots up: EBIOS read error: Media error Block 0x64828 Sectors 0 Very likely your HD is hosed.

| I attempted this today and after a long wait at "Check bios version and platform" I got back "Error writing to drive C: DOS area: drive not ready". ??? (Also, is there a version for A06 coming?) |
